Ricky Martin for Hillary!

Puerto Rican mega rock star and international humanitarian Ricky Martin endorsed Hillary Clinton for President.

"These elections will have historic repercussions both in the United States and the world. Senator Clinton has always been consistent in her commitment with the needs of the Latino community. Whether fighting for better education, universal health care and social well-being, as First Lady and Senator from New York -- representing millions of Latinos --she has always fought for what is most important for our families," said the 5-time Grammy award winning artist.

Accepting Martin's endorsement, Hillary said:

"I am honored to have Ricky Martin's support," said Senator Clinton. "In addition to his great talent, Ricky is committed to improving the world through his philanthropic work, and I am grateful for his support. He is a very important voice in the Latino community and together we will work to improve the lives of families and children across the country."

It seems that Puerto Ricans -- just like West Virginians and Kentuckians -- didn't get the DNC memo that this race is over.

Viva la Hillary!

Re: Thumbs up! (2.00 / 1)

Wait, wait, wait. Ted Kennedy's endorsement means nothing, but that he's ignoring the will of the people in his own state. John Kerry's endorsement means nothing, but that he's on the "change" bandwagon and is still bitter about his 2004 loss. Oprah's endorsement means nothing, but that she's over excited and shouldn't get involved anyway. Bill Richarson's endorsement means nothing, but that he's a "Judas" and a traitor. John Edwards' endorsement means nothing, but that he's lobbying for a cabinet position and is weak.

But Ricky Martin's endorsement is important?

Yeah, no.

its a JOKE. actually, it may also be part serious. Latinos are a big bloc, and its migration to Bush is what got him into the White House twice. IF Gore had done as well with Latinos as Bill Clinton had in 1996, he'd have won decisively enough to pass the Court and collect the White House AND 200 dollars..

While I admit to squealing over Hanks, it was solely in reaction to his unbelievable performance in the movie 'Big,' not because of any political endorsements.

(Sidenote: wouldn't it strike you, Dog, as a bit much to see a diary celebrating Tom Hank's endorsement of Obama on the rec list?)

No matter what people may think RM is very popular in PR.
I am sure you did not dismiss or ridicule when Oprah
came out for Obama. So I will not ridicule RM

However, even if Sen. Clinton got all the PR delegates it would not matter.
SD's are not worried how PR will vote in the Fall.
The biggest PR vote is from NYC (where they can by law vote)and they will vote Dem in the fall.

But, really, this is a huge game-changing event in the campaign.  It doesn't surprise me that Hillary waited until right now to unload the Martin endorsement.  If there's anything to get the superdelegates' attention, it's the endorsement of Ricky Martin.  That this isn't the lead story on every network is further evidence of the media bias during this election cycle.

"Voters" (none / 0)

Puerto Ricans are unable to vote in the general election.  They have a smaller population than many of our actual states but have an inordinately higher delegate apportionment.  I just don't get it.

I would love to see PR become a state and obtain full voting rights, but until then I don't think they should be participating in our primaries.  They don't even have our two party system.

Disclaimer: yes, I'm an Obama supporter and yes I would be saying this if Obama were to win PR.  In fact, I think he has a relatively good chance. I still feel deeply uncomfortable with the situation.

Cup Of Life

Do you really want it
Do you really want it
Do you really want it

Go, go, go (go, go, go)
Ale, ale, ale (ale, ale, ale)
Go (go), go (go)
Go (go), go (go)
Here we go (yeah)

The cup of life, this is the one
Now is the time, don't ever stop
Push it along, gotta be strong
Push it along, right to the top

The feeling in your soul is gonna take control
Nothing can hold you back if you really want it
I see it in your eyes, you want the cup of life
Now that the day is here, gotta go and get it
Do you really want it (yeah)
Do you really want it (yeah)

Here we go, ale, ale, ale
Go, go, go, ale, ale, ale
Tonight's the night we're gonna celebrate
The cup of life, ale, ale, ale

The cup of life, it's do or die
It's here it's now, turn up the lights
Push it along, then let it roll
Push it along, go, go, go

And when you feel the heat, the world is at your feet
No one can hold you down if you really want it
Just steal your destiny right from the hands of fate
Reach for the cup of life 'cause your name is on it
Do you really want it (yeah)
Do you really want it (yeah)

Here we go, ale, ale, ale

Go, go, go, ale, ale, ale
Tonight's the night we're gonna celebrate
The cup of life, ale, ale, ale

We're gonna get it
Do you really want it
We're gonna get it
Do you really want it
Yeah

The cup of life, this is the one

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

How could he endorse someone without consulting all of the other members of Menudo? What about letting their voices be heard????

by JENKINS on Thu May 29, 2008 at 04:11:23 PM EST

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

I posted this upthread, but there are rumors that Hillary has all of Menudo in her pocket and will wait until Sunday morning to roll them out.  The plan is then to have Vanilla Ice and Danny Bonaduce join the campaign in Montana for a joint endorsement that would put both that state and South Dakota in play, which would force the superdelegates to rid themselves of Obambi.

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

Why stop with Menudo? If she could get the endorsement of the New Kids on the Block and combine that with the Backstreet Boys (valuable Florida voters), she could have a enormous lead in the Washed-Up Boy Band delegation.

The New Kids are supposedly in the cards too.  Why do you think they reunited?  Just wait for the "Hillary 4 U & Me" cover...

How silly.  Gee, being he hasn't been a member of Menudo since he was 17, one would not even associate a need.

Did you receive permission from your parents before voting?

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

Judging by the indiscriminate recs that go on for any diary positive about Hillary regardless of substance, maybe it's some of you Hillary fans who need parents permission to rec here.
So before you question other peoples immaturity, check yours first.

Seriously, when celebs endorsed OBama, I do not recall those diaries receiving many recs.

Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corporation -- owner of Fox News Channel, and the New York Post, among other platforms many consider conservative -- was practically gushing about ....liberal Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois.

Well maybe we should send them a memo that its over. It is amazing that you can lose 12 states in a row, and not even compete, but somehow that is discounted. I use to like Hillary, but now I really really really hate her.

Livin La Vida Loca

Livin' La Vida Loca lyrics

She's into superstitions black cats and voodoo dolls.
I feel a premonition that girl's gonna make me fall.
She's into new sensations new kicks in the candle light.
She's got a new addiction for every day and night.

She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain.
She'll make you live her crazy life but she'll take away your pain
like a bullet to your brain. Come On!

[CHORUS:]
Upside, inside out she's livin la vida loca
She'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca
Her lips are devil red and her skin's the color mocha
She will wear you out livin la vida loca Come On!
Livin la vida loca, Come on!
She's livin la vida loca.

Woke up in New York City in a funky cheap hotel
She took my heart and she took my money
she must've slipped me a sleeping pill
She never drinks the water and makes you order French Champagne
Once you've had a taste of her you'll never be the same
Yeah, she'll make you go insane.

[CHORUS]

She'll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain.
She'll make you live her crazy life
but she'll take away your pain like a bullet to your brain. Come On!

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

The Ricky bashing in this diary is ridiculous. If he would have endorsed Obama, Ofans would be talking about how enlightened he was, download his songs on iTunes, and would probably hold vigils for him. Your repetitive trashing anything 'not-Obama' is just so obnoxious.

by grlpatriot on Thu May 29, 2008 at 08:01:43 PM EST

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

Let's be honest here: Ricky Martin is laughable.  No celebrity endorser means anything, with perhaps the slight exception of Oprah in South Carolina.

Obama has had people like:

Robert DeNiro
Bruce Springsteen
Jay-Z
George Clooney
Scarlett Johanssen
Jessica Biel
Jennifer Aniston
Brad Pitt
Stevie Wonder

etc.

WHO CARES?  These people probably moved five votes between all of them.

Re: Ricky Martin for Hillary! (none / 0)

That's good for Hillary but here in the US Obama has passed Hillary in Hispanic support according to the Gallup tracking polls.

And among Latin artists in PR and elsewhere Obama is the big favorite. Artists on this video are originally from all over Spain, Mexico, PR, Colombia.

I heard on Spanish language radio in Miami that Calle 13 had come out for Obama. They are the hottest group out of PR in the last couple of years and are what young Latinos in PR and on the east coast are actually listening to. Here they are performing in Chile on tour and showing GWB some love.

Obama's got The Boss and Al Jorgensen who'd you rather have backing you in a fight?
